JB Global - Australia's Largest Sustainable Energy Investment Managers
JB Global Sustainability Policy
We are concerned with the growing body of evidence indicating that human activities are threatening the life support systems on Earth. The atmospheric composition is being altered, soil is being lost, species are being threatened or extinguished at an accelerating rate, and air and water are being more polluted. These changes, together with massive upheavals in world economies, are challenging ecological, social, economic stability, cultural diversity and human rights.
JB Global recognises a special responsibility to apply its intellectual resources to improve, even reverse, these trends by identifying, verifying and promoting policies, mechanisms and procedures which lead to sustainability for our planet.
We are committed to sharing our knowledge and experiences with the community and other key stakeholders to promote and achieve positive environmental values and outcomes.
The Global Sustainable Energy Sector Outlook
It is pleasantly surprising that despite the tough economic backdrop and low commodity prices, political support for sustainable energy has increased over the past 12 months. Although sustainable energy is a tax on the consumer and drain on government's budget, we have seen politicians remain committed to addressing climate change.
Obama in the United States is the prominent leader of this trend by committing $150 billion to sustainable energy over the next 10 years. China has committed to double the amount of wind turbines in the globe by 2010, and in Europe they are increasing subsides for companies and individuals who implement policies to reduce their carbon footprint.
Domestically, the Australian Government announced within the 2009 budged plans to commit $4.5 billion to clean energy sources.
Given these Government backed initiatives we have seen a significant increase in the number of sustainable energy projects across the globe. While other industries have suffered from capital and funding restraints, the demand for sustainable energy infrastructure has increased over the past 18 months.
JB Global expects to see a significant increase in the amount of sustainable energy projects as the ability of large companies to raise debt improves.
Due to these factors JB Global is confident the global sustainable energy sector is well positioned to continue to grow post the Global Financial Crisis and will outperform most other asset classes over the next few years as we approach the Kyoto protocol expiry date
